Aldenhoven, 2019/05/17.

The Aldenhoven Test Center in North Rhine-Westphalia is currently examining the proving ground management system (PGMS) of the mm-lab GmbH in a test that lasts several weeks. Thereby the Aldenhoven Testing Center takes the chance to explore the PGMS functions independently in the form of a test system and to test out which applications are required for the proving ground. The test system represents the PGMS with its essential system scope. Among the central implementations of the test include also the voice communication and the collision awareness system CAVE!, which was awarded by the state of Baden-Württemberg. The latter was specially configured for the Aldenhoven 3-lane oval track. Based on GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) and fast 4G LTE data communication, CAVE! sets worldwide standards in the generation of safety on proving grounds by using highly accurate positioning. The Aldenhoven Testing Center demands the PGMS to provide a higher level of security on its proving ground. In addition, the integrated booking and usage recording systems are expected to a relief in the administrative tasks in daily operation. In a first feedback managing director Dr.-Ing. Frank-Josef Heßeler is very pleased with the PGMS possibilities of increasing the efficiency of the business processes. In a first feedback managing director Dr.-Ing. While the 5G frequencies have just been auctioned off in Germany, mm-lab is already expanding its know-how on this topic with its trial installation. In Aldenhoven they have some special features: Germany's first Vodafone 5G mobile tower has already been commissioned there. In addition, the Aldenhoven Testing Center has a Galileo pseudolite test infrastructure at its disposal that already allows tests with the European satellite system Galileo. As part of a cooperation, the technologies will be used by mm-lab for further development of its PGMS.

The Aldenhoven Testing Center also offers its customers a test and validation environment for automated and connected vehicles under realistic urban conditions1. The urban environment has been integrated as part of the project CERMcity, which was funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
