mm-lab wins call for tender by A.R.T.

New chapter opened on Telematics for waste management companies

Kornwestheim, August 20^th 2010 – mm-lab GmbH based in Kornwestheim Germany has won the call for tender by the Joint Waste Management Authority in Trier (A.R.T.) to furnish their waste management vehicles with Telematics.

Beginning with October the vehicles as well as the back office of A.R.T. will be equipped with the new Telematics System of mm-lab. mm-lab won the selection process competently while succeeding over well-known and strong competition in the contest. Determining factors were the successful field trial performed by the customer as well as the impressive dedication with which mm-lab implemented the customer’s wishes.

The project

The Joint Waste Management Authority in Trier (A.R.T.) is responsible for disposing the waste in the city of Trier and in the district of Trier-Saarburg. 180 employees of A.R.T. attend 246.000 inhabitants in both urban and rural areas. To be well prepared for future challenges this procurement project includes the provisioning of the A.R.T. vehicles dedicated to different areas of waste disposal with the new Telematics System of
mm-lab. It provides the creation of optimized waste disposal routes aided by a Geographical Information System (GIS) as well as a Graphical Order Management based on the addresses of the customers. Driver and controller are supported by an active tour guidance (navigation) as well as near real time monitoring of routes (localization, tracing) and their graphical presentation in the vehicle and in the back office. Functionality of the solution is completed by an electronic logbook.

The Telematics System being used was developed based on the Telematics Platform of mm-lab and field proven in different market areas. It allows the implementation in parallel of very heterogeneous Telematics applications adapted to customer’s specific requirements, running on standardized, commercially available hard and software. This Telematics Platform is the key to the multiple functionality offered and the dynamical expansion in running mode (hot plug-in) at low cost.
